Event Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz Vibes Magazine Present the 2025 NEXTies Awards
A Santa Cruz Tradition Celebrating the Doers, Creators, and Changemakers of Our Community
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Event Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz Vibes Magazine are thrilled to present the 2025 NEXTies Awards, a community-powered celebration honoring the individuals and organizations shaping the future of Santa Cruz County. This year’s ceremony will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 5:30–8:30 PM at Woodhouse Blending & Brewing (119 Madrone Street, Santa Cruz). The event is all-ages and open to the public.
For over a decade, The NEXTies has grown into one of Santa Cruz’s most cherished annual traditions — a night that reminds us why this town is like no other. It’s a heartfelt celebration of those who give their energy, art, ideas, and love to make this place thrive. From entrepreneurs and educators to musicians, lifeguards, and nonprofit leaders, The NEXTies shines a spotlight on both local legends and rising stars.
This isn’t your average awards show — it’s Santa Cruz-style: laid-back, lively, and deeply community-driven. It’s a moment to uplift one another, build new connections, and recognize the people who keep Santa Cruz vibrant and full of possibility.
Hosted by Bella Bonner and Matthew Swinnerton, this year’s event is set to once again fill the room with inspiration, laughter, and gratitude.
To keep the energy high, DJ Osha B aka Selecta 7 will host both the pre- and post-party with his signature blend of reggae and soul. Known for his role as host of Reggae Love Radio on KZSC Santa Cruz 88.1 FM (airing Saturdays from 6:30–9:30 PM), Osha B brings authentic Santa Cruz flavor straight to the stage.
