Indigo / Marigold / Cochineal — Natural Dyeing Workshop
Spend a full day drawing rich, living color from plants and insects with artist and natural dyer Felise Gutierrez — a hands-on introduction to the ancient craft of natural dyeing.
We’ll work with three of the most storied natural dyes — indigo for blues, marigold for golden yellows, and cochineal for deep reds and pinks — learning how each color is coaxed from nature and fixed into natural fibers.
You’ll prepare and work the dye vats, experiment with resist techniques, and dye your own natural-fiber pieces to take home. Felise teaches not only the technical steps of the process, but also encourages a deep-rooted connection with nature, transforming the ancient alchemy of the art into a practice of presence.
No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to get a little color on your hands. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with your own naturally dyed pieces.
