What a special night at Felton Music Hall! On Sunday, October 25, Jesse Daniel celebrated the release of his new album, Looks Like Rain, with an intimate, sold-out performance in the heart of the San Lorenzo Valley. No backing band, no big production — just Jesse, his guitar, and a room full of people who love his music. It was one of those shows that reminded you just how special it is to experience a great songwriter up close, hearing the songs and stories in their purest form.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jesse for many years through Event Santa Cruz. From his recognition as Musician of the Year at the 2018 NEXTies to the many shows and events we’ve been involved in together over the years, it’s been incredible watching his career grow. Along the way, Jesse and his partner, Jodi Lyford, have become good friends of mine, making it even more special to see their continued success. Jesse has taken his music around the world while never losing his connection to the Santa Cruz County community.
Following the show, Jesse shared a message on Instagram, saying the sold-out acoustic performance “reminded me just how fortunate I was to grow up in an area that values music the way it does.”
Congratulations to Jesse and Jodi on the new album! It’s been a joy watching their journey unfold, and nights like this remind me why I love the Santa Cruz music community so much.
