Thank you to Lauren Wahl for coming on the Event Santa Cruz Radio Show on KSQD 90.7fm. We over booked the hour so we did not get to hear as much from Lauren Wahl as we would have liked (we could listen to here for hours). She was a great sport about it and played two amazing songs:

Like the Sun Needs The Day and Kiss My Lips

We are such big Lauren Wahl fans and can’t wait for her new album with her band Lauren Wahl & Simply Put. It is their Debut Album entitled Field Notes.

There will be an album release Aug 3 at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center. Lauren Wahl & Simply Put will have special guests Mariah Roberts, Patti Maxine and Lauren’s Sister Courtnay Weinberg joining! Also performing is the lovely & local singer-songwriter Miss Lindsey Wall! Tickets here.

More about Lauren Wahl & Simply from thier website:

Simply Put is an Americana band from Santa Cruz, California consisting of singer-songwriter Lauren Wahl, guitarist Marcus Balanky, bassist Zach Latham, saxophonist Ryan Navaroli and drummer Rowan De-Cosse Graves. The group has a mellow indie/rock vibe with a hint of country and blues. Regularly playing well known music venues such as Moe’s Alley (Santa Cruz), Hotel Utah (San Francisco) and Michael’s on Main (Soquel) and festivals such as the Capitola Art & Wine Festival (2018) and the Gilroy Garlic Festival (2019), the band performs both public and private events in the Bay Area. Simply Put is excited to release their first full-length album this summer 2019, “Field Notes”.

The original 6 members of Simply Put (Lauren Wahl-vocals/acoustic guitar, Mariah Roberts-fiddle/harmonies, Zen Perry-drums, Mike Kelly-bass, Dylan Short-keys and Justin Hambly-guitar) started out as a duo consisting of Wahl and fiddler Mariah Roberts. The group soon grew to include the other members when Wahl booked studio time intended to record a solo album, but extended the invitation to the other musicians to join her in the studio. The resulting EP “Hello, Baby”, produced by Patrick Brede (Santa Cruz) and mastered by Justin Weis (San Francisco) was released March 2018- and the band was formed. They began playing shows in Santa Cruz, San Francisco and even as far as Seattle within a short period of time.

“Hello, Baby” was only the first compilation of Wahl’s songs she intended to record, and it’s very creation is a reflection of Wahl’s determined, often rule-bending nature. The 5 tracks on the album and their subsequent single “Don’t Go Too Far” (Andy Zenzack, Gadgetbox Studios) can be found on Pandora Radio, Apple Music, and most other digital streaming sites.
