Congratulations Sante Adairius Rustic Ales!
Capitola’s Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, a tiny craft brewery specializing in mixed-fermentation saisons, has again been voted into the top-10 ranking for the best breweries in the world. Better yet, this year the brewery, founded by Adair Paterno and Tim Clifford, jumped up one spot from No. 10 to No. 9.
Sante Adairius — sometimes called “SARA” for short — was voted into the annual RateBeer Best ranking by thousands of annual users. RateBeer, a beer-ranking site and app, examines “more than 640,000 beers by over 33,000 brewers around the world” every year for the multi-category contest. The site awards across several categories including best new brewers, best beers by style and best beers in the world. But its most prominent category over the last 20 years of the contest has been its list of the 100 best brewers in the world.
“It is always a privilege to be recognized for your craft, but especially when the acknowledgement comes from the consumers who drink your beer,” said Paterno in an email to SFGATE. “And as a very small producer (we made less than 2000 Bbl of beer last year), we are honored to be mentioned alongside industry greats like Hill Farmstead, Side Project, and the other incredible brewers on the list. In the end, we just feel so lucky to be able to do what we love, with and for customers we love, in one of the most beautiful places to drink beer in the world.”
